With a name like Champ and two older brothers doting on you, what's not to smile about?! ;)

Heidi and Finn patterns (I'm anxiously awaiting the headband tutorial)
I'm working on a hat for the baby, and after my botched attempt at the middle baby's hat, I'm always looking for ideas...this one reminds me of the one I tried, but may work better?
pumpkin cinnamon rolls - yummmm....
I love a fellow anti-Black-Friday-er (just made that word up, so don't try to spell check it. ;)
And I'm looking for some artwork for our playroom, which has completely bare walls at the moment. Something reading or children's lit-themed, preferably. I'm debating this one or this one - anyone have any other ideas?

And finally, another photo from the sweet baby in my last post, with a crotcheted newborn wrap from Jenster - etsy store here.

a couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of photographing a home birth, and I have to say it was just about the most amazing thing I've ever witnessed (before you think I'm the worst mom ever, keep in mind that I had c-sections with all three of mine, so I didn't get to actually witness their birth). Here's the sweet baby, and older brother who is going to give her a run for her money. ;) Thank you for including me in such an amazing experience!

...between picking up lunch, the long drive out, and deciding to bring my entire family to meet my best friend's new one (in the middle of nap time, of course). Maybe not the most productive environment for a newborn session - ha! Fortunately my friend is coming over this weekend and I get another crack at it.

Can I admit that I used to be a little bit afraid of newborn sessions? Now they're becoming my favorite. Especially when they're new. Really new. Less than ten days old new. Which seems crazy - what mother is in any state of mind to have photos taken the week after she's released from the hospital, is in the midst of sleep deprivation, and whose life has been turned upside-down? That's why I try to book newborn sessions when mom's still pregnant - because otherwise, let's face it - a newborn session turns into a 2-month session.
This is the baby of a friend of mine from high school. It was so good to see her, and meet this little one. He was so fresh, and sleepy, and easy to mold and move. Perfect. And she looked pretty darn good for having just had a baby. People used to mistake us for each other in high school and college when we ran in the same circles. They would ask me how Santa Barbara was (where she went to college). It was always such a compliment, because she was always one of those really cool girls. You know - confident but always nice, classy...ramble, ramble...thanks for letting me invade your home and lives with a brand new one. He was such a dream!
