Can I admit that I used to be a little bit afraid of newborn sessions? Now they're becoming my favorite. Especially when they're new. Really new. Less than ten days old new. Which seems crazy - what mother is in any state of mind to have photos taken the week after she's released from the hospital, is in the midst of sleep deprivation, and whose life has been turned upside-down? That's why I try to book newborn sessions when mom's still pregnant - because otherwise, let's face it - a newborn session turns into a 2-month session.
This is the baby of a friend of mine from high school. It was so good to see her, and meet this little one. He was so fresh, and sleepy, and easy to mold and move. Perfect. And she looked pretty darn good for having just had a baby. People used to mistake us for each other in high school and college when we ran in the same circles. They would ask me how Santa Barbara was (where she went to college). It was always such a compliment, because she was always one of those really cool girls. You know - confident but always nice, classy...ramble, ramble...thanks for letting me invade your home and lives with a brand new one. He was such a dream!

Breathtakingly beautiful both the baby and your pictures! You totally rocked this newborn session, Ellen!
Thanks again Ellen! We were hesitant to have photos done so soon after his birth, but are SO glad that we did! :)
