Five for Friday..."good things" for baby

This is as close to Martha Stewart as I'll get - ha! About 7 weeks left until baby #3 arrives, and although I have to admit I have much less of a desire to get "things" for baby #3 (possibly since I know he/she will end up with hand-me-downs anyway, or because this baby will be sharing a room with big sister, so there isn't really a nursery to decorate), there are a few things for this baby that I'm keeping an eye on...

1. Going home outfit. I love getting that perfect little outfit to bring the baby home in, with a matching blanket and hat of course ;) (although they're usually swimming in it, even as bigger babies). I'll probably keep all of their coming home outfits to pass down. Here's the one I'm looking at for this baby:

2. Swaddling blanket. I have the same problem my friend Sherri complained about on her blog - my babies love being swaddled, but they outgrow the little receiving blankets so quickly. She gave me the idea for these, which are supposed to be bigger, so we'll give it a try...

3. Handmade baby stuff... And anything homemade, really. I don't know why the third one has inspired me to start making baby clothes or baby knits, but I'm really feeling the urge to make stuff...I wish knitting was easier to learn, and do, because I'm still on my first scarf and am seriously doubting that a baby hat is going to happen before this one arrives, and I have a long list of baby items I want to sew, including this pattern that is coming in the mail...yes, I know it's a boy pattern, and we don't know it's a boy, but I figured it could easily be modified for a girl...

4. Ok, so maybe I have some secret Martha Stewart aspirations...I found this on her site, and since I haven't found any artwork I've like for the baby's room (well, the baby's half of the room), I picked up some artist canvases to give these a shot:

5. Growth chart - does anyone have a cute one they've seen? The Land of Nod has some cute ones, but I'm always on the lookout...

What are your favorite baby items? Please share!! :)

Okay I looooooove the little canvas/art animals you are making! Those are adorable!!! I want some! :) Yes, we love the swaddle here too - and outgrow it SO quickly. My babies are WELL beyond 'average size' when they are born - so those 'receiving blankets' just don't cut it! Beautiful growth chart too ... you're on a roll with 7 weeks to go! (And you did see that someone else is expecting #4!!! :) That's 4 under 3!)

What beautiful things, Ellen! I love the canvas animals, too! For swaddling, I got totally hooked on the jersey knit SwaddleMe things. Elanor wouldn't sleep at all for the first 4 months unless she was swaddled. We need a growth chart, too. I'll let you know if I find any other good ones!

Hi Ellen,

You can try www.etsy.com. It's like a giant artists' market--lots of artists selling lots of different products, and they have really neat wall decals.
